Best of Sitges

The perfect mediterranean getaway

Best of Sitges

Are you thinking about a short trip from Barcelona to discover the Catalan coast with pintoresque landascapes? Sitges is your choice. This medieval town that inspired great artists such as Pablo Picasso or Santiago Rusiñol back in the early 1900’s has still preserved much of its old character. Located between the Garraf Massif and the Mediterranean sea and only 40 minutes away from the city -21 miles or 39 km- Sitges combines unique mediterranean landscapes with the romantic stories of the artists and the so called ‘americanos’ or ‘indianos’, the local people that once travelled to America to make a fortune such as Facundo Bacardí who in 1830 established himdself in Santiago de Cuba and later on founded the most popular rum company in the world.

Sitges is also very famous around the world due to its dynmamic cultural activity such as the Carnival, held between the months of February and March, according to liturgical calendar; the Sitges Film Festival with its numerous premières, one the world’s best international film festivals that specializes in fantasy and horror movies and it is held in the month of October; and the Gay Pride Sitges held in June which confirms the town as one of the world’s most famous LGBT destinations.

This memorable 4-hour chauffeured tour -that can also be offered by local train- visits the old town of Sitges and the Cau Ferrat, the inspiring museum that used to be the home of Rusiñol where he held the ‘modernista parties’ attended by all the intellectuals and artists of the time. If you also want to enjoy a local paella lunch by the sea and /or do the visit and tasting at Casa Bacardí we recommend the 7-hour tour.

Sites covered in 4 hours:

A guided tour through Sitges

  • Sant Bartolomé and Santa Tecla church
  • Cau Ferrat
  • Palau Maricel
  • art galleries, old market and traditional shops
  • visit the Museum of Cau Ferrat (Catalan Art and former home of Santiago Rusiñol)

Sites covered in 7 hours:

all the above plus:

  • local paella lunch by the sea
  • visit and tasting at Casa Bacardí

Not necessarily. We will visit sites in the most efficient and logical order, customized to take into account your hotel’s location, where you’d like the tour to finish, and the best timing to avoid crowds.

The tour takes place rain or shine. The weather in Sitges is very pleasant and sunny most of the time and actually warmer than in Barcelona, never extremely hot or cold. However, we do get occasional rain, mostly March to May and October to November. Check the weather forecast before the tour and be prepared to enjoy your time in Sitges, rain or shine.

This tour is suitable for children and families even offering the option of swimming in the mediterranean sea in spring and summer time. However the rum tasting is only possible for adults over 18.

Please let us know in advance since the town of Sitges is not completely accessible. We will plan an adapted itinerary. The only possible transportation option then is the chauffered tour since unfortunately the local trains are not accessible yet.

Yes, you can. We will plan the itinerary according to your needs.

The Cau Ferrat Museum closes on Mondays and local holidays such as Christmas Day and Casa Bacardí for rum tasting closes on Mondays and Tuesdays and for private venues.
